Bald Mountain News
January 2007
Happy new year to you all. We hope you enjoyed the festive season.
It is seriously dry up here at the moment and the vines are looking forward to the next good rain. The cabernet sauvignon has started to colour up already, and this is unusually early for that variety.

December 2006
The weather has gone crazy this season - we had a very intense hail storm on Wednesday 13 December. There was significant damage to the bunches on the southern side of the canopies. So we've had November frost and December hail so far. At least the forecast weather for Christmas is for cool conditions.

November 2006
On Friday morning 26 November we experienced a severe frost. The overnight minimum was minus 3 degrees C. We lost almost all of the sauvignon blanc, almost all of the shiraz and about half of the chardonnay. The good news is that the cabernet sauvignon had only little damage. The frosts that morning were widespread all along the high country of the Great Dividing Range and damage depended on the aspect of the particular vineyard.
